About Me
Hi, I am Georgi Gilpin, an artist and craftswoman.
My primary artistic endeavour lies in ceramics, where I dedicate the majority of my time in my pottery studio. I design organic shapes that resonate with their environment, allowing the material to express its inherent qualities, which in turn shapes the final piece.
My tableware is inspired by my fascination with maps, particularly the contour lines that depict the land's topography.
I possess a curious creative spirit, embrace the possibility of failure, and find joy in experimentation as an integral part of my artistic process. Creativity brings me immense satisfaction.
Living in Devon near the River Dart, I swim nearly every day, regardless of the weather. My partner and I have a cocker spaniel, which encourages us to spend time outdoors multiple times a day, providing me with opportunities to gather food and visual inspiration from the diverse seasons and landscapes we explore. I cherish Devon and feel fortunate to have grown up here and returned as an adult, fostering a deep connection to my homeland.
The essence of my work lies in my genuine love of nature. I hold a BA Hons Degree in 3D Design from Brighton University, specialising in ceramics and metal. Should you wish to discuss my work, explore collaboration opportunities, commission a piece, or simply engage in a conversation about creativity, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
